Pakistan hold the chief of banned Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) Maulana Masood Azhar following certain clues with regard to an attack on an Indian airbase in Pathankot

Officials of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) took Maulana Masood Azhar into ‘protective custody’ and questioned him pertaining to the Pathankot attack, sources said.

The law enforcers also apprehended some close associates of Azhar and grilled them with regard to the attack that led to accusations against Pakistan shortly afterwards.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level security meeting attended by COAS Raheel Sharif, DG ISI, DG IB and other high-ups.

The meeting reviewed the situation after the attack and evidences provide by the Indian authorities in this regard. Officials briefed the meeting that to advance the investigations into the attack some more evidences were required.

After the Indian authorities linked the January 2 attack to Pakistan, LEAs had rounded up several JeM activists from southern Punjab.
